I'M FINALLY HERE. . . . David's first e-mail from Tucson
Hey family,
So I’m just going to tell you what I wrote in my journal bc I think it would describe my last few days the best.
August 30, 2011, we stayed in President Killpacks house last night / had the best bacon, eggs and pancakes for breakfast.
We were told by the Assistant Presidents two things, one, we always carry a Book of Mormon everywhere we go, at which time we were given one, and two, this mission has a lot of baptisms and as such, we need to be urgent, thus we started to run until we got to the Mormon Battalion monument. As President Killpack spoke I was touched by his comment about being preserved. He said, as the Mormon Battalion was promised, if we are faithful and obedient, acting with full diligent hearts we will be protected. I will always be obedient.
After we ran back to the van we had Cici's pizza, yummy, then we had an orientation where I met and took a picture with Sister Faught. I thanked Elder Faught for getting my bike, and then I met Sister Cluff's, she told me to tell you that I met her at the transfer and I'm safe.
They were all so happy to see me from all the e-mails and talking with my mom. It felt like I already knew them.
We went to the Presidents house, it was beautiful, big, open and dry. There were plenty of pretty cacti around.
We had a nice chat, and he said, “I’m looking forward to serving with you." After bed and breakfast we went to the transfer area where I was taken to meet my new companion and trainer. So that’s the update thus far.
